Frequently Asked Questions

Keeping bags in stock would certainly mean faster shipping, but it would also mean making pieces without knowing whether they'll ever find a home.

I've chosen a different approach.

By making each bag to order, I can focus my time on creating something specifically for the person who will own it, rather than building inventory to sit on a shelf. It also allows me to work in intentionally small production runs, carefully select materials, and avoid the waste that often comes with large-scale manufacturing.

I know it means waiting a little longer. But I believe some things are worth waiting for.
When your Gramercy arrives, it wasn't chosen from a warehouse. It was made because you chose it.

Every Bas and Lokes bag is handcrafted in my Sydney studio.

I'm closely involved in every stage of its creation, from selecting each hide of leather to cutting, stitching, finishing and the final inspection before it's carefully wrapped and packed.

I've always believed exceptional products come from taking the time to do things properly rather than as quickly as possible. That belief continues to guide everything we do at Bas & Lokes, and every bag that leaves the workshop is made with that same care and attention to detail.

The experience of receiving your bag matters just as much as making it.

Before your order leaves the studio, I inspect it one final time, carefully brush the suede, and polish the hardware where needed.

Your bag is then placed inside its protective dust bag, wrapped in tissue and carefully packed by hand before beginning its journey to you.

I know that moment of opening the box only happens once. I want it to feel every bit as considered as the bag inside.

The moment your order comes through, the making begins.

I select the leather and suede for your bag and start handcrafting it here in my Sydney studio — every panel cut, assembled and stitched by hand, with edges finished and hardware fitted along the way.

Once your bag is complete, it goes through a final inspection before being carefully packed and prepared for its journey to you.

From the day you order to the day it arrives, I want the whole experience to feel considered, personal and worthy of the bag inside.

Because every bag is made to order, timelines vary depending on current demand.

You'll always see the estimated ship date for your specific order on the product page before you check out — so there are no surprises once you hit "buy."

Once your order is placed, it reserves materials and a place in an upcoming production batch — resources I’ve committed specifically to your bag rather than someone else’s.

Made-to-order only works if I can rely on orders being firm. It’s what allows me to work in small batches, avoid overproducing, and give every piece the attention it deserves — rather than treating orders as flexible until the last minute.

Because every Bas & Lokes bag is made to order, I'd ask you to choose carefully — once your order is placed, I'm not able to offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind.

Each piece is handcrafted specifically for its owner, so I encourage you to take your time with the product description, dimensions and photographs before ordering. I do my best to represent every colour, material and detail accurately, though slight variations are a natural part of working with genuine leather — no two hides are exactly the same.

If you have any questions before placing your order, I'm always happy to help.

If your bag arrives damaged in transit, or there's been an error with your order, please get in touch within 7 days of delivery. I'll work with you to resolve it promptly.
