How to Choose the Right Watch Strap

Getting the right fit comes down to two measurements: lug width (so the strap fits your watch head) and wrist size (so the strap length is comfortable). Both take less than a minute to measure.

Lug Width: Fitting Your Watch Head

Lug width is the distance in millimetres between the two lugs on your watch case — the small prongs where the strap attaches. The strap's lug width must match your watch exactly.

How to Measure

  1. Use a mm ruler — place it across the inside gap between the lugs of the case.
  2. Print our help guide — place your watch over the printed gauge to find your lug width.
  3. Use digital calipers — the most accurate method. Measure the inside gap where the spring bar sits.

Each strap is listed with two numbers: lug width / taper width. The lug width is the measurement at the watch head; the taper width is the narrower measurement at the buckle end.

Wrist Size: Choosing Your Strap Length

Strap length is listed as two numbers: the long side (tail end, from the spring bar to the last hole) and the short side (buckle end). Choose based on your wrist circumference.

How to Measure

  1. Soft tape measure — wrap snugly around your wrist just below the wrist bone and note the measurement in mm.
  2. Print our help guide — use the printed strap length gauge to find your size.
  3. Use thread — wrap thread around your wrist, mark the overlap point, then measure the length against a ruler.
